Our Curriculum

 

Two School

 

Two School classes are designed for 2-year-old children who turn 2 by September 1st.  This program is an introduction to a variety of preschool skills such as learning about colors, shapes, letters and numbers. These classes encourage language development, social interaction with other children of the same age, independent and imaginative play, exploration, and fine motor skill development. Classes are built around a schedule of circle time, music, learning activities, arts and crafts, outdoor and indoor playtime, Chapel time and snack time. The concepts of sharing, consideration for others, and manners are also reinforced.

 

Baseline Goals for Two School include:

 

· Learn to take turns and share

· Introduced to recognizing their name

· Begin to lengthen attention span

· Begin to recognize colors

· Begin to recognize shapes

· Become familiar with letters and numbers

· Recognize and sing simple songs

· Learn to pray before snacks and meals

· Practice table manners

· Learn to use “Please” and “Thank-you”

· Learn that clean-up is a part of play time

· Learn self-help skills

· Learn to use simple arts and crafts utensils such as crayons and play-dough

 

3-Year-Old Preschool

 

The 3-year old preschool classes are designed for those students that have not had a first preschool experience.  This class encourages independence, language development, small and large motor development, manners, and consideration for others.  A variety of concepts such as numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and name recognition are introduced.  The classes are built around a routine of circle time, music and movement, learning centers, free play, arts and crafts, snacks, outdoor play, prayer, and story time. 

 

Baseline goals for 3-year olds include:

 

· Learn to sing ABC’s

· Learn to Count One to Ten

· Recognize Basic Colors

· Recognize Basic Shapes

· Learn How to Take Turns and Share

· Practice Table Manners

· Learn to Paint, Color and Glue

· Learn to Hold a Pencil

· Make Simple Craft Projects

· Learn to Sing Songs and Play Games

· Many Hands-on Experiences

· Learn Simple Prayers

· Begin Self-Help Skills

· Learn to Recognize Name

· Various Gross Motor Activities

· Introductory Scissor Activities

 

4/5-Year-Old Pre-K

 

The 4/5-year old Pre-K classes are designed to prepare children for Kindergarten.  Children will learn to follow directions, adjust to group dynamics, and work independently and with others.  This class provides activities in pre-reading, pre-math, creative thinking and problem solving.  This class operates on a routine which includes circle time, music and movement, learning centers, free play, arts and crafts, snacks, outdoor play, prayer and story time. 

 

Baseline goals for the 4/5-year olds include:

 

· All of the Above Skills for 3-year olds

· Begin to Identify Letters and Their Sounds

· Learn to Write Name Properly

· Learn Address and Phone Number

· Learn Days of the Week

· Make Arts and Crafts with Multiple Steps

· Learn to Count to 20

· Problem Solving

· Recite Poems and Finger Plays

· Understanding of Sets to Ten

· Rhyming and Opposites

· Book Handling/Literature Appreciation

· Science Activities

· Left to Right Progression

· Recite Pledge of Allegiance
